Badenoch and Strathspey Community Car Scheme

Volunteers drive their own cars to take clients from their homes in Badenoch & Strathspey or Tomatin to a requested destination within this area.

We help members of the community who are unable for whatever reason to use public transport or who have no transport of their own.

If they are in the habit of using taxis, or hospital transport, then they should continue to do so.

Clients have their own identification number, which enables us to inform the drivers of any special requirements they may have.

  • The charge is twenty pence per mile per car.
  • There is a minimum charge of £1.50 for any journey
  • A maximum charge of £5 for a medical journey.
  • It is quite acceptable to share cars (passengers can then share the cost).

There are no restrictions on the purpose of the journey, eg, health centre visit, shopping, visiting friends etc. (We do not do journeys for commercial/business purposes).

Clients are asked to give as much notice as they can – 48 hours or at least 24 (more if possible). However, if you need to make a journey to a medical centre at short notice, please give us a call and we will do our best to help.

  • To arrange a journey call: 01479 81223, between 10am – 3pm, Monday to Friday.
  • The journeys can take place at any time.

The car scheme is available to people living in the Badenoch & Strathspey and Tomatin areas (with the exception of Aviemore where there is a shopping scheme).
